Autobianchi A112 Runabout, 1969, by Bertone. A concept which used the transverse drivetrain from the Fiat 128 (originally developed in the Autobianchi Primula) and placed it between the rear wheels. Designed by Marcello Gandini over the modified platform of an Autobianchi A112 it was first displayed at the 1969 Turin Motor Show. Though it remained a one-off the principle of moving a front transverse drivetrain to the rear wheels in order to create a mid-engined layout was developed for the Fiat X1/9 and subsequently adopted by a number of other manufacturers
